Katherine Bowden Powell lived an extraordinary life, rich in her love of faith, family and friends. The service in Celebration of her Life will be held Sunday, November 11 at 2:00 p.m. at White Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she served for years as a volunteer, active Circle member, and was honored as a Lifetime Member of the Presbyterian Women. A frequent volunteer at Wake Relief, Kay Powell loved to help others and was known to all of her friends for the Moravian Sugar Cakes she hand made for them every Christmas and loved to deliver herself.

Married for 45 years to William Isaac Powell Jr., who predeceased her, she is survived by their two children to whom she was an amazing mother: Sidney Katherine Powell of Dallas, Texas and Asheville, NC, and William Isaac ("Ike") Powell, III of Raleigh; her grandson--the light of her life--Wilson Bowden Powell; her precious sister, Becky Bowden of Durham, NC; and myriad dear friends.

The family will visit with friends in the Bell Gathering Space following the service, and requests that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to one of the organizations she loved: Wake Relief, Loaves & Fishes, Hospice of Wake County, or White Memorial Presbyterian Church.
