Mary Ann Hoffman Welborn King

Mary Ann Hoffman Welborn King, 74 passed away peacefully Tuesday November 6, 2012 in New Bern, NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline Whaley and John Hoffman, husband Robert "Pete" King of Kinston and Special Friend S.G. "Andy" Rogers of Zebulon.

She is survived by her children, Rick Welborn (Leigh) and Cathy Vega of New Bern and Debbie Scott of Kinston; grandchildren, Sabrina Crisp (Jeff), Chris Vega (Maranda), Lane and Lauren Welborn; great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Ariana and Keira; brother, Hubert R. Waters (Annette) of Kinston; aunts, Virginia "Cricket" Draughon and Edna Whorton of Oriental; Special Friends Monty and Lydia "Sugie" Welborn of New Bern and many special nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann, affectionately known as "Mema" retired from BFI in Raleigh and relocated to New Bern where she enjoyed her family, friends and coworkers at Piggly Wiggly. Her children and family extend grateful appreciation to Hospice of Craven and Lenoir counties and her Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of New Bern for all their care and support during her illness.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2012 at Edwards Funeral Home in Kinston, NC with Dr. Steve Fitzgerald officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the memorial service beginning at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice or a charity of your choice.

Inurnment will be held at Pinelawn Cemetery at a later date by the family.

Edwards Funeral Home will be assisting with arrangements.
