ZEBULON — Wake County sheriff’s deputies charged a Zebulon man with having a Facebook page illegally because he was convicted in 2002 of taking indecent liberties with a child.
Joshua Ramsey, 31, was arrested at his home in a mobile home park Thursday, records show. He lives at 4000 Greenthumb Drive, which carries a Zebulon address.
Deputies charged Ramsey under a section of state law that says it is illegal “to access a commercial social networking Web site where the sex offender knows that the site permits minor children to become members or to create or maintain personal Web pages on the commercial social networking Web site.”
Ramsey is a registered sex offender, deputies said in their arrest warrant.
They charged that he maintained a Facebook page under the name of Ramsey Jacob from Jan. 23 through Tuesday.
Ramsey was being held in the Wake County Detention Center without bond.
In October 2002, records show, he was convicted in Wake County of taking indecent liberties and sentenced to 24 to 29 months in prison.
The district attorney’s office dropped a second charge of first-degree sexual offense.
