J. D. Howard: Bridge the chasm

Bridge the chasm

The Nov. 9 letter “GOP pouters” detailing flaws in the GOP further points to why there is such a huge chasm between the parties. Democrats feel Republicans are bitter and purposefully demonize President Obama. The reality is most Republicans are tired of unchecked spending and entitlements for those who pay little to no taxes at all. They are also concerned about a health care law that not even Obama himself can fully explain.

Obama will have to moderate his stance and should do so to get things done in his second term. Meanwhile, I’ll agree the GOP needs to recognize the changing face of America. It’s difficult at best to swallow. To quote a local businessman on the Mitt Romney defeat, “I feel like the whole country just lost to Carolina.”
