— North Carolina senior kicker Casey Barth will miss the rest of the season after sustaining an injury during the Tar Heels’ 68-50 loss against Georgia Tech on Saturday.

Barth, who holds the school record for field goals and extra points, suffered the injury during the third quarter of the Tar Heels’ defeat on Saturday. After UNC took a 36-34 lead early in the quarter, Barth kicked off and ran down the field to assist his teammates in kick coverage.

Jamal Golden, the Yellow Jackets’ kick returner, made it to the 30-yard line, where a few UNC players helped bring him down. As he was tackled, though, Golden’s helmet appeared to crash into Barth’s leg. Barth hobbled off the field and didn’t return.

Thomas Moore, a walk-on sophomore, handled the Tar Heels’ kicking duties for the rest of the game. The Tar Heels play at Virginia on Thursday night.
