FUQUAY-VARINA — Firefighters and rescue workers worked ahead of impending rain Thursday morning to free a man who had become trapped in machinery at a town wastewater treatment plant on Hilltop Road.
The incident began about 10 a.m., and the man was freed about a half-hour later and transported to a hospital.
Other details of the incident were not immediately available.
The treatment plant is part of a 46-acre site at 5812 Hilltop Road.
