DURHAM — The man accused of shooting another man several times and leaving him lying in a street Monday night has now been charged with murder, police said today.
Police had initially charged Terrell Thomas Inman of Matilene Avenue with one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and second-degree kidnapping.
He is accused of shooting Jelani Kaumau Dandy, 24, who was found lying in the 600 block of North Driver Street, between Liberty and Southgate streets. Dandy had been hospitalized at Duke Hospital, where he died Wednesday morning, police said.
Inman, 20, remains in jail without bail.
Police have not released details about the shooting, including a possible motive.
