Provoked
The distorted description of the outbreak of violence in Israel and Gaza in a Nov. 15 news story incredibly ignored the huge number of rockets – unprovoked – that Hamas had been firing into Israeli towns before there was an Israeli response – more than 200 just in recent weeks.
How many rockets fired into the USA would be tolerated by our government? The McClatchy presentation is equivalent to describing our 1941 entry into World War II without mention of Pearl Harbor.
The headline and text could have at least approached fairness if they had only mentioned the approximately 600 rockets per year that Hamas has been firing into Israeli towns, and that approximately 200 of these were fired in just the past couple of weeks.
For shame!
