Tradition of service

Many syndicated columnists are bashing the white Southern male. One has to assume they are uninformed. White Southern males have a long distinguished history for service to this country. It was the Southern white male that made the difference in the Revolutionary War and every conflict since.

Fast forward to the current war in Afghanistan. Which demographic group do you think joins the service and volunteers for a combat MOS (Military Occupational Specialty)? The group that joins the service for patriotism; following in the footsteps of their father, grandfather, great-grandfather, etc. There is no other demographic group that has given more for this country than the white Southern male.

The next time you see an old white Southern male, you might want to take a minute and thank him for his service. Who else is more willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for this country?
