Duke women to take on No. 6 Penn State in soccer

The third-seeded and 15th-ranked Duke women’s soccer team (15-5-2) will travel to University Park, Pa., this week to take on sixth-ranked and top-seeded Penn State (19-3-2) on Friday in the NCAA Elite Eight at Jeffrey Field.

The contest will be aired live on www.gopsusports.com with live video, and fans can also follow the action via Twitter at @Duke_WSOC.

Duke has advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight for the second straight year and the fourth time out of the past six seasons.

Friday’s winner between Duke and Penn State will advance to the NCAA College Cup in San Diego, Calif., where it will face the winner of the Florida State/Notre Dame contest.

The Blue Devils are vying for their third overall trip to the NCAA College Cup (1992, 2011).

Elsewhere

The Duke women’s basketball team will host Valparaiso at 7 p.m. Friday at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
