Ade Taiwos value isnt measured by the 11 goals and 11 assists he scored for Cardinal Gibbons High.
Those numbers arent what earned him the N.C. Soccer Coaches Association player of the year honors.
His stats are not his full potential and all the coaches knew that, Gibbons coach Tim Healy said. He is such a force that he is easily doubled- and tripled-teamed and would distribute the ball to open players.
He was always the marked man and surrounded all the time by the other teams best defender. He really shines in the big games. He scored or got an assist in every playoff game this year and last year.
Taiwo said he was not sure if he was going to play high school soccer this year, but he is glad that he did.
The atmosphere at high school games is tremendous, Taiwo said. You go to school the next day and everyone is talking about the game and congratulating you. Its always great.
