Melissa Shaheen: Thanks for the juice

Thanks for the juice

As I type this, I am enjoying a lovely Thanksgiving weekend with my entire family at my brother’s house in Chester, N.J. This almost didn’t happen, as after Superstorrm Sandy, they didn’t have power for more than two weeks, and only had it restored last week.

In talking to my sister-in-law, she asked, “Isn’t Duke Power [Energy] down by you?” She went on to say that she and all of her neighbors are in awe of Duke and their friendly, fast and efficient line crews. She said that their local crews around here weren’t getting the job done, but as soon as the Duke trucks started rolling in, everyone got their power back.

She asked me to please convey her gratitude and the gratitude of her community in Chester for giving them their power back, and for being so nice and approachable. Thanks, Duke Energy, for enabling our New Jersey family Thanksgiving! With lights and power!
