Model that failed

What a fitting finish to the reign of the Democratic Party – get rid of the Dorothea Dix Hospital grounds – make it a park! After three decades of mostly Democratic Party deconstruction of mental health services what a fitting finale!

And what about an eastern park on the Cherry and O’Berry hospital campus and a western park on the Broughton campus and maybe a kiddie park on the Iverson Riddle Center! When there is no substance I guess it’s best to cover it up with whipped cream. Govs. Dan Moore and Terry Sanford and others must be turning over in their graves! (FYI – I was deputy commissioner of mental health in the ’60s and ’70s when we were a model for the nation. Now we are a model for how not to do it! I am unaffiliated as to political party.)
