DURHAM — Two Granville County men have been arrested and charged in a series of burglaries reported in both Durham and Granville counties.
Arrest warrants were issued on Nov. 15 for Brandon Keith Autrey, 25, of 3115 Tar River Road in Oxford, and Curtis Leroy White, 33, of 1568 Little Pond Road in Stem, after security cameras filmed the two men and their vehicle at one of the burglarized houses, according to a Durham County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Granville County deputies arrested them on Nov. 20. In addition to charges in Granville County, the two were also charged by Durham officials with three counts of felony breaking and entering and two counts of felony larceny after breaking and entering. Durham detectives say they are working to connect Autrey and White with two additional burglaries, so additional charges could be pending.
“I’ve learned that criminals generally avoid breaking into houses with security cameras – probably for the reason it makes them easy to identify and apprehend after the fact,” Durham County detective Jon Helsius said.
White and Autrey are being held in the Granville County Jail under $310,000 and $320,000 bonds respectively.
