If you think a string quartet is old-fashioned, check out the Jack Quartet Saturday night in Duke University’s Reynolds Industries Theater. These four young men have received much praise for their electrifying performances, especially with new works. Saturday, they play Steven Mackey’s “Physical Property,” with the composer on electric guitar, plus works by Schumann and Webern. 8 p.m. $30. 919-684-4444; dukeperformances.duke.edu.
