Nancy Merrick: Two strikes

Two strikes

U.S. Rep. Renee Ellmers was mentioned in two News & Observer articles Nov. 29, both displaying her remarkable lack of good judgment and qualifications for serving in Congress. First to put forth a bill that a federal building be renamed for the late Sen. Jesse Helms is outrageous. To suggest we spend taxpayer money to make new signage and spend any time discussing this bill in Congress is ludicrous.

Then in a front-page article discussing N.C. congressional representatives being willing to compromise on the impending fiscal cliff issues, Ellmers refused to comment on her position.

Such misplaced priorities at a time when our country needs representatives to focus on compromise and monumental issues is disastrous for her constituents. I am so disheartened that I have been re-districted away from Rep. David Price and now will be represented by Ellmers in January.
