The holiday season overflows with concerts of familiar yuletide fare, but the Choral Society of Durham offers something a little different this weekend in Duke University Chapel. French composer Arthur Honegger’s 1953 “Christmas Cantata” is a soaring, mighty work, modern but accessible and inspiring. The Durham Children’s Choir participates, along with an orchestra, all under the direction of Rodney Wynkoop. 8 p.m. Saturday; 4 p.m. Sunday. $20. 919-560-2733; choral-society.org.
