RALEIGH — Mike Barroqueiro, the coach at Iona for the past two years, has been named associate head coach for the N.C. State women’s soccer team, Wolfpack coach Tim Santoro announced.
During his two years, Barroqueiro compiled a 9-6-3 league record in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
Barroqueiro was named head coach at Iona in December 2010. Previously, he spent three seasons as an assistant coach at College of Charleston.
Duke: senior goalkeeper James Belshaw has been selected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America third team, the NSCAA announced Friday.
A two-time All-ACC first team pick, Belshaw anchored the Blue Devils’ defense each of the past four seasons. This past season he became the first Duke goalkeeper in program history to earn first team honors twice in his career and only the third Duke goalie to win multiple All-ACC honors after he earned All-ACC second team recognition as a sophomore.
North Carolina: Sophomore Boyd Okwuonu and Mikey Lopez each earned a pair of All-America honors this week, while freshmen Danny Garcia and Jonathan Campbell were named All-Freshman.
Lopez was pegged for the first team on Top Drawer Soccer’s National Team of the Year, while Okwuonu was tabbed for the second team.
The pair of sophomores were also named among the NSCAA All-America Teams. Okwuonu was a second team defender and Lopez was named to the third team.
Okwuonu started 21 matches along the backline for the Tar Heels in 2012 as he helped to form the top defense in the country.
Lopez also earned a starting nod in 21 contests this season and tallied a pair of goals and an assist on the year.
A pair of freshmen also earned Top Drawer Soccer Freshmen Team of the Season honors with Danny Garcia making first team and Jonathan Campbell making the second team.
Garcia finished second on the team in points with 14 as he tallied four goals and a team-high six assists.
Campbell started all 23 matches for the Tar Heels at center back and added a goal and an assist.
Elon: Senior forward Chris Thomas was named to Top Drawer Soccer’s Team of the Season third team.
Thomas, who was a semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy, the top honor is collegiate soccer, helped the Phoenix to a 15-5-2 record this season as he led the nation with 23 goals and 51 points.
He was named the Southern Conference Player of the Year the second time in his career.

Campbell: Coach Drew Peterson announced the Camels 2013 schedule, which features 25 games at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
The Camels will take on six opponents: Coastal Carolina, Georgia, Hawaii, North Carolina, Northwestern and Virginia Tech that competed in the NCAA Tournament last season.
Campbell will travel to Georgia, Kennesaw State and Hawaii for three-day tournaments and host two of their own.
The slate is highlighted by mid-week home dates against Charlotte (March 13), UNC (March 27) and N.C. State (April 10).
The Camels will also play at Elon (Feb. 19), N.C. Central (Feb. 26), South Carolina (March 19), UNC Wilmington (April 23) and Hampton (April 25) during the week.
Campbell opens the season at home with the Hampton Inn Invitational against Virginia and St. Bonaventure on Feb. 8. George Washington and Seton Hall are also a part of the event.
