Eric K. Sommers of Raleigh has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Boy Scouting.

For his Eagle project, Eric built a pedestrian bridge at Durant Road Middle School that allows students from the adjacent neighborhood to safely cross a stream while walking to school and residents to safely access the Raleigh Greenway trail behind the school.

Eric, the son of Kevin R. and the late Jennifer W. Sommers, is a junior at Millbrook High School and a member of Troop 364 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
