PITTSBORO — Many Chatham County court offices will have limited hours this week as they begin moving into the new Justice Center at 40 E. Chatham St. in Pittsboro Thursday and Friday.
Most of the move should be completed by Dec. 17, but court sessions will not begin in the Justice Center until Jan. 2. They will continue to be held in their current locations during December:
Civil District Court (Dec. 17 and 31), Small Claims Court (Dec. 18), and Child Support Court (Dec. 21) will be in the current District Courtroom in the Courthouse Annex in Pittsboro.
Criminal Superior Court (Dec. 17 and 20) will be in the current Superior Courtroom at 158 West St. in Pittsboro.
Court filings and payments will be accepted and processed behind the current District Courtroom in the Courthouse Annex Building on Thursday and Friday, but access to Clerk of Superior Court’s records will be limited on those two days.
If you need to reach specific court offices Thursday and Friday, current phone numbers should work or will redirect you to the new phone numbers. The phone number for the Clerk of Superior Court, 919-545-3500, will not change.
Residents should try to delay visits and calls to court offices on those two days. Normal office functions and hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) will resume on Dec. 17
