Area fishing report

Cape Lookout/Bogue Inlet

Anglers are still reporting good amounts of t rout being caught inshore. On the beaches and sound, puppy drum and trout have been biting. Offshore anglers brought in wahoo and yellowfin tuna . Contact: EJW Outdoors 252-247-4725;; or

Topsail Island

Surf anglers caught flounder, drum and trout over the weekend.Offshore caught good amounts of wahoo and dolphin. Contact: East Coast Discount Tackle 910-328-1887,

Wilmington/ Wrightsville Beach

Inshore boats reported t rout and red drum. In the surf, sea mullet have been caught. Offshore, yellowfin tuna and wahoo are biting along with grouper and other bottom fish. Contact: Tex’s Tackle 910-791-1763,

Southport/Sunset Beach

Surf fishing remains good for trout and scattered red drum along with some whitings being reported in the rivers. Offshore, k ing mackerel have been caught near the tower and dolphin and wahoo are biting. Contact: Dutchman Creek Bait & Tackle 910-457-1221;; or


Falls Lake

White bass and largemouth bass are still swimming together and biting near river and creek channels on jigs, crank baits, and blade baits. Crappie are hitting at 20 foot depths on minnows and jigs. Water level: normal 251.5, Wednesday 250.9, full pool 264.8. Contact: Outhouse Tackle 919-217-0085;

Kerr Lake

Largemouth bass are still biting blade baits and crank baits at medium to deep depths. C rappie are biting on minnows around brushpiles. Water level: normal 300, Wednesday 296.63, full pool 320. Contact: Bobcats Bait and Tackle 434-374-8381;

Shearon Harris Lake

Largemouth bass are being at shallow on jigs and deep on crank baits and worms. Crappie are biting at about 14 foot depths on soft plastics and minnows. Contact: The Tackle Box 919-557-8255;
