Rush-hour accidents snarling traffic on eastbound I-40

This screengrab of a N.C. Department of Transportation traffic camera shows significant congestion Friday evening, Dec. 14, 2012, at the intersection of Interstate 40 and U.S. 1/64 in southwest Raleigh. There were multiple accidents reported in the area.

— Multiple accidents are slowing traffic on eastbound Interstate 40, causing lane closures between the U.S. 1 and Gorman Street exits.

The accidents also are causing traffic to back up on U.S. 1 at the I-40 on-ramp.

There are no immediate reports of injuries.
