Scout creates kids’ chapel

Published: December 16, 2012

Amanda Jewell of Raleigh has earned the Silver Award, the second-highest honor in Girl Scouting.

For her Silver Award project, Amanda added a children’s chapel to her church, Hillyer Memorial Christian Church, to help transition younger children from nursery time to the regular church services. She painted and furnished the room with floor pillows for sitting and a Communion table.

Amanda, the daughter of Richard and Roxanne Jewell, attends Enloe High School and is a member of Troop 1069, led by Sarah Jessup.
