Meagan Nicole Hunter and Zachary Thomas Stone were united in marriage Saturday, August 11, 2012 at five o’clock in the afternoon at Christ Baptist Church in Raleigh. Dr. Allan Moseley officiated. Following the ceremony, a dinner reception, hosted by the groom’s parents, was held at MacGregor Downs Country Club, with music provided by Jackie Gore and Legends of the Beach. The incomparable David Jones emceed the evening.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Hunter of Kernersville, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Preston Watts of Walnut Cove and Mrs. Patricia Merritt of Walkertown. She is a 2008 graduate of Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point and a December 2011 graduate of Wake Forest University. She is pursuing a master's degree in math at North Carolina State University.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas D. Stone of Raleigh, and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Richard F. Smith and the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred A. Stone, Sr., all of Raleigh. He is a 2007 graduate of St. David’s School in Raleigh and a 2011 graduate of Wake Forest University, where he was a Presidential and Pope Scholar. He is a portfolio analyst with Square 1 Bank in Durham.
The bride was escorted to the altar by her groom. The bridal party included Mrs. Emily Gumprecht, matron of honor, of Saugus, California, and bridesmaids Kathryn Rohrer of Richmond, Virginia; Gracie Wyatt of Dublin, Ohio; Betsie Carrow of Alton, Illinois; Mary Koons of Kernersville; and Brittany Millice of Raleigh.
The best man was Mr. Thomas Stone, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Owen and Alexander Stone, brothers of the groom, both of Raleigh; Jason Jones of Chapel Hill; Nathan Kramer, of some beautiful beach north of Sydney, Australia; Edward Dobner, of Clemmons; and Benjamin Comer, of Medford, New Jersey.
Ushers were Ryan Himmelsbach of Denver, Pennsylvania; William Stewart of Charleston, South Carolina; Chastan Swain of Belews Creek; and Tanner McPeak of Winston-Salem. Kamryn and Maddox Enscore of Belews Creek were flower girl and ring bearer. Jamie Hester of Chapel Hill and Sloane McPeak of Winston-Salem were registry attendants. Scripture reader was Dr. Karl Smith of Raleigh.
Meagan and Zack were honored with a shower hosted by the bride’s grandparents and extended family, and a pool party hosted by friends of the groom’s family. A bridesmaids’ luncheon hosted by Mrs. Julie Jones and the groom’s mother was held on Friday at St. Jacques French Café. A rehearsal dinner and dance hosted by the groom’s parents and uncles was held on the eve of the wedding at St. David’s School. The couple left the church in the groom's best friend's 1969 Z/28 Camaro. After the reception, they drove off in the groom's Chevy Silverado through a black cloud of diesel smoke into the sunset of marital bliss.
Following a honeymoon in Curacao, the couple now resides in Raleigh.
