GARNER — The town’s first roundabout opened to traffic Sunday at the intersection of Vandora Springs and Buffaloe roads, but workers aren’t quite done with it yet.
The single-lane roundabout will close again Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. so workers can do seeding and erosion control and seal curb and gutter joints. Pavement marking will take place Wednesday, but the roundabout will remain open.
The state spent more than $620,000 converting the three-way intersection into a roundabout to make it safer. Work began on the roundabout in September and was supposed to be done last month.
The town is paying a share of the cost.
