FUQUAY-VARINA — A 17-year-old student was hit by a car while he was starting across Judd Parkway to get on a school bus just before 7 a.m. Wednesday morning, police said.
Luke Kurucz, a student at Fuquay-Varina High School, did not sustain life-threatening injuries, police said. He was taken to WakeMed Hospital.
Police charged Blair Rowe Hale, 31, who they said was driving the opposite way from the school bus, with failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision.
The accident happened at the corner of Judd Parkway and Red Oak Tree Lane.
Police said the bus driver had put on flashing amber lights signifying the bus was going to stop, and Kurucz started across the road.
