Three charged after stalemate in Cary

Published: December 20, 2012

— A three-hour stalemate with police at an apartment complex on Hidden Oaks Drive ended with the arrests of three suspects.

Officers were investigating a burglary when the occupants of an apartment refused to come to the door. The leaser of the apartments also denied the officers consent to enter. That led to the stalemate while officers obtained a search warrant, according to a Cary Police Department spokesperson.

Corey Lamar Edgerton, 22, Shelby T. Jordan, 23, and Lena Nicole Smith, 29, were arrested at the apartment in building 118 without incident, police said.

Edgerton is charged with two counts of felony breaking and entering, conspiracy to commit felony breaking and entering, two counts of felony larceny after breaking and entering, larceny of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon. Jordan is charged with two counts of felony breaking and entering, conspiracy to commit felony breaking and entering, two counts of felony larceny after breaking and entering, larceny of a firearm and misdemeanor child abuse. Smith is charged with conspiracy to commit felony breaking and entering.

All three are being held in the Wake County Public Safety Center in Raleigh.
