Diamondbacks ink OF Ross to 3-year deal

The Arizona Diamondbacks and outfielder Cody Ross have agreed to terms on a three-year contract.

The deal includes a club option for 2016.

Ross, who turns 32 on Sunday, batted .267 with 22 home runs and 81 RBI over 130 games with Boston last season. He led the Red Sox with a .481 slugging percentage and tied for the team lead with 57 extra-base hits.

A Scottsdale resident, Ross earned MVP honors for the 2010 National League Championship Series as the Giants went on to win a World Series title.

Ross is a versatile outfielder. He has made 387 career appearances in center field, 345 in right and 194 in left.

For his career, Ross has played in 887 games with the Tigers, Dodgers, Reds, Marlins, Giants and Red Sox. He is a career .262 hitter with 122 homers, 186 doubles and 452 RBI.
