Patricia Carstensen: Poof, say polluters

Poof, say polluters

Regarding your Dec. 5 article “Utilities get a pass on coal-ash pits”: According to the Environmental Management Commission’s ruling on coal ash and ground water, I guess we aren’t supposed to worry until there are at least two football fields worth of lead and arsenic plumes in the ground water. Or maybe we are supposed to believe that the polluters have found some kind of magic incantation that they can say while walking the perimeter of their property to keep the poisons inside.

It just seems to me that this is all a lot easier to deal with sooner rather than later.
