The public’s elevator
I was appalled to read about the elevator fiasco that Rep. Virginia Foxx says was blown out of proportion. This issue bothers me on several counts.
First, I can see that an elevator be set aside when representatives are actively engaged in a vote. The rest of the time the elevator should be available to everyone. These elevators and the building they are in were paid for by the public.
Lawmakers are not royalty. They are not so almighty that they should not have to share a ride up or down the building with us common voters. They are neither smarter nor more entitled.
Elected officials work for us and they should remember that!
