If you’re looking for something to do with the kids on New Year’s Eve, there will be special screenings of Eric Darnell, Tom McGrath, and Conrad Vernon’s “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted” as part of Raleigh’s annual New Year celebration, “First Night Raleigh.” The 2012 animated comedy, which concerns a wacky group of zoo animals trying to find their way home to New York from France, features an all-star cast including Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sacha Baron Cohen, Martin Short and Jessica Chastain. Advance all-day passes are $9, $10 on the day of event. The movie, which was the highest grossing and best reviewed of the “Madagascar” series, shows at 2, 4, 6:30 and 8:15 p.m. at Nature Research Center-SECU Daily Planet. Details: 919-832-8699;
