Scout arranges piano lessons

Published: December 30, 2012

Megan Izzo of Raleigh has earned the Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting.

For her Gold project, Megan created a program at Family Piano Academy in which student volunteers teach lessons to retirement home residents. She also created a website to inspire others to create similar programs in their own communities.

Megan, the daughter of John and Kathy Izzo, is a senior at Cardinal Gibbons High School and a member of Troop 776, led by Amy Bailey and Donna Wells. Kelly Schilling with the Alta Oakridge Retirement Community served as her project adviser.
