Raleigh man accused of seriously hurting his 2-month-old son

— A 29-year-old man was being held on $1 million bond at the Wake County Detention Center on Monday pending a court appearance on charges that he broke his 2-month-old son’s ribs and inflicted other injuries last week.

Raleigh police arrested Demetrius Lashawne Morant of 5600 Oak Meadow Lane on Friday after questioning him at the detective division headquarters on Atlantic Avenue, according to an arrest report.

An arrest warrant for Morant charges that on Dec. 26, he abused the baby, causing several rib fractures, a brain edema (fluid on the brain) and a retinal hemorrhage.

The charge against Morant is child abuse inflicting serious injury.
