Crunching the Hurricanes’ salary cap

The 2012-13 season will be played under a prorated salary cap based on full-season salaries of $70.2 million. The Hurricanes currently have 20 players on NHL contracts for a total cap hit of $56 million, although Tuomo Ruutu is injured. The NHL roster limit is 23.
