Missed message
There are many Catholics who see the large amounts of money being spent or to be spent on the new cathedral in Raleigh as a waste of limited resources. If funds of this magnitude can be raised, certainly they can be better used than for brick and mortar.
There are many good works that can be done with money like that. As I read what Jesus asked us to do, it was to feed the hungry, visit the prisoner, welcome the stranger, protect the marginalized. No where do I see a command to build buildings. I hope that this building is not what we as Christians are offering to the people of North Carolina. If so, I believe we have missed the message.
