Durham man charged with robbing two banks

The suspect who robbed a Durham SunTrust branch on Erwin Road is described as a black male, approximately 40 years old with a medium build. He has a with a mustache and a white bandage under his left eye. He was last seen wearing a gray jacket, khaki pants, white sneakers and a tan camouflage hat.

Investigators have charged a Durham man accused of robbing one bank Dec. 17 with robbing another Dec. 6.

Anthony Clark, 49, of Driver Street, was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the Dec. 17 robbery at SunTrust Bank, 2714 Erwin Road.

A man seen on surveillance footage entered the bank shortly before 9:30 a.m. and demanded money. A gun was seen, but no one was injured.

On Tuesday, police said Clark has also been charged with robbing Wells Fargo Bank at 2000 W. Main St.

In that case a man entered the bank shortly before 9:30 a.m. and demanded money from a teller. He got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured, and no weapon was seen during the robbery.

Clark has been placed in Durham County Jail under $750,000 bail.
