— A New York woman faces charges in Wake County for what Crabtree Valley Mall police said was trying to pay for $708 worth of clothing at Macy’s with eight counterfeit $100 bills Monday.

Crabtree Valley Special Police charged Sharima Niyana White, 28, of 11 Grant St. in Hempstead, N.Y., with obtaining property by false pretenses and possession of counterfeit instruments.

White had clothing by Polo and Levi’s when she tried to check out with the bogus bills, police said in an arrest warrant.

They said White had 11 phony hundreds.

White was released on a $7,500 bond.
