Durham police need help finding teen’s killer

Published: January 11, 2013

— Police are searching for whoever gunned down a teen in the parking lot of a convenience store in West Durham this week.

Lashaun Lamont Hunt, 18, of Lexington Street had been shot several times when police found him just before midnight Wednesday in the parking lot of the Town & Country convenience store at 3101 University Drive.

Police had responded to a report of “shots fired” from an emergency dispatcher.

Witnesses told police that two vehicles were in the area at the time of the shooting. One was described as a white or light-colored sport utility vehicle, and the other was a Nissan Altima. Witnesses were unsure of the color of the passenger car, said spokeswoman Kammie Michael.

Police are still trying to determine a motive for the shooting.

Investigators ask anyone with information to call 919-560-4440, ext. 29322, or CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.
