Ill-treated
I agree with a comment in the Jan. 5 letter “Those who suffer.” People are so much better off from society’s compassion standpoint if they are diagnosed with brain cancer, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, epilepsy, etc.
It is tragic how the mentally ill are viewed and still treated in our society. I shudder to think of the many who end up locked away in prison because their disease was never diagnosed or properly treated. The ignorance to shun and judge those with mental illness-related diseases in our wonderfully amazing and complex brains is mindboggling itself.
