Allan Thunes: Debating priorities

Debating priorities

In all the bickering over higher taxes and lower spending, why has it taken so long for someone to publicly raise the question: What do we as a country value and how do we propose to pay for it?

Though I disagree with Donald N. Wood’s premise in his Jan. 6 Point of View piece “The fantasy of small government” that we can never return to an era of smaller government, I wholeheartedly support public debate over national priorities and ways to fully fund them.
