Crash closes one lane of I-40 east in Raleigh

Authorities have closed one of four eastbound lanes on Interstate 40 at exit 299 near Hammond Road in Raleigh on Wednesday morning because of a vehicle accident, according to the state Department of Transportation.

— An accident on eastbound Interstate 40 near Hammond Road has closed one of four lanes shortly after 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said a tractor-trailer and passenger vehicles were involved, but no injuries were reported.

Fire apparatus was called to wash away fluids that leaked from vehicles onto the rainy roadway.
