Out of touch

Gov. Pat McCrory has begun his administration by getting himself a new SUV and giving his Cabinet members huge raises “so they can afford to live,” even though they already had six-figure salaries!

I doubt the governor or any of his Cabinet members have ever had to budget down to the penny or to make hard choices among paying for food, clothing and medical expenses for a family, as thousands of North Carolinians do each week.

In his very first week in office, McCrory has displayed a troubling lust for power and wealth instead of a commitment to serve the people of this state. He owes all of us who have struggled through unemployment and economic hardship in recent years an apology.
