NRA’s resistance

The NRA will never back down on a total opposition to an assault rifle ban or ammunition limits.

Why? Because a core element of its membership, I believe, is preparing to resist not a burglar or deranged individual, but rather the authority of the federal government. And they want all the fire power they can get their hands on for when (not if) the FBI or U.S. Army comes knocking.

These are true believers, self-proclaimed brave patriots who are actually fear-obsessed and, therefore, not open to reason. It’s interesting that the NRA claims the constitutional right to possess military-grade weaponry, while many in its ranks are envisioning a decidedly unconstitutional armed resistance to federal authority.
