Classrooms gather pennies

Published: January 20, 2013

Green Hope Elementary School in Cary ranked third in the state for gathering pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters in the Olive Garden’s national Pasta for Pennies fundraiser.

The annual project, which asks elementary, middle and high schools to fill collection jars in their classrooms with spare change over a three-week period, raises money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Green Hope Elementary students raised $7,274 this year.
