Raleigh police found a North Raleigh woman dead in her apartment Sunday morning and have charged an acquaintance with murder in the case.
Suspect Wedjunald Gemeille, 21, was being held in Wake County jail. The victim was identified as Angel D. Irby, 29, a resident of Loft Lane, off Six Forks Road, north of Millbrook Road.
The suspect and the victim were known to one another, and the crime was not a random act, a police statement said.
Irbys body was discovered when officers carried out a check on the apartment, from which someone had called police, the statement said.
