Laurence Marks: Lose speed bumps

January 21, 2013

Bad speed bumps

I’ve lived at the end of Northbrook Road for nearly 30 years. I have never observed a pattern of speeding traffic, nor any serious automobile accidents. Yet recently the speed limit was reduced, seemingly without justification, and more recently speed bumps have suddenly erupted.

It makes no sense to install these impediments on Northbrook Road, where no accidents have occurred.

If speed bumps are needed, let’s put them where fatalities occur: Millbrook Road, North Hills Drive, Creedmoor Road and (most dangerous of all) Glenwood Avenue.

These nuisances (a legacy from the Meeker administration?) are neither needed nor justified and should be removed.
