Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Why change?

A: Our main goal for the redesign has been to make the site easier to use and less cluttered, while still providing all the information you expect to find. You should notice that the speed of the site has improved.

Q: Will I get accustomed to this only to have you change it again?

A: This is the first version of our new site, and we do expect to add features and enhancements. But the look will basically remain the same.

Q: Will I need to register again?

A: No. Your username and password have been carried over to the new site. Your N&O Plus account, as well as your N&O Zone registration, remain the same as well.

Q: Where are the obituaries?

A: You can find a link to "Obituaries" by placing your cursor over the "News" item in the red bar near the top of the page. A list of additional items will appear, and Obituaries will be the first item on that list; click on it there. You can also click here.

Q: How do I get to the N&O Zone?

A: You can find a link to our Subscriber Rewards portal under the "Local Deals" item in the top navigation bar. You can also click here.

Q: Where's the e-edition?

A: Scroll to the bottom of the home page; you'll find a link to our replica print edition under the gray "Stay Connected" bar. You can also click here.

Q: How do I find photo galleries and video?

A: Photo galleries and video are in the dropdown navigation under the appropriate site nav item. On many of our pages, there is now a combined "Photos and Videos" widget that displays the most recent photo galleries and video content published on our site.

Q: I can't find what I am looking for, what do I do?

A:Go to the search window at the top of any page and type in a key word for what you're looking for; your content should appear in a listing of all content with that key word in it. The more specific or unusual the word you choose, the better the search results will be. The search window is a great way to find content on our site. You can also click on the Site Map in the line of links at the bottom of each page. The site map is a complete list of sections and pages on the site.

Q: I've tried that already. Can you help me find it?

A: Sure. Contact us through our support portal, and we'll track it down for you. (Just help us out by being as descriptive as you can.)

Q. What are the primary sections of this new site?

A: As listed in the red bar near the top, our primary sections are News, Sports, Business, Politics, Living, Opinion and Local Deals. Entertainment content is now under Living.

Q: I have my favorite sections or pages on your site bookmarked. Will those bookmarks still work?

A: Yes, they should. We did remove some redundant sections, so if you have a problem finding something, please check our Site Map, linked from the bottom of all pages.

Q: How do I find what other people are reading?

A: A list of the Most Popular Stories of the day can be found on the right side of most pages on the site.

Q: I can click a Facebook "like" button on other sites, what about here?

A: You can. When you are on a story page, a Facebook "like" button is just beneath the headline of the story. You can click there to "like" the story. If you wish to post the story to your Facebook page, you can click the Facebook icon at the bottom of the story itself, in the bar that says "Share this story."

You can reach our Facebook page by scrolling down the right side of our home page until you see our Facebook link, or by clicking on the Facebook link under the "Stay Connected" bar at the bottom of pages on the site.

Q: Can I still comment on articles?

A: Yes. In fact, you can now comment on photos and videos as well.

Q: I'm using an older browser. Will that make a difference in what the site looks like to me?

A: You'll have the best experience on our site by using Firefox 3.6 and above, Internet Explorer 8 and above, Chrome and Safari 4 and above.

Q: How do I make a suggestion, offer a comment or ask a question about the new site?

A: Please go to our Customer Support page, linked from the top of all our pages, and give us your feedback using the form we have posted there.
