What some ‘afford’

After reading about the raises Gov. Pat McCrory approved for his Cabinet so that they “can afford to live while running multibillion-dollar departments,” I was appalled.

I volunteer at a local charity, the Diaper Train, that provides diapers to families in need. Almost every week I volunteer, a state employee comes in to get diapers because his or her salary isn’t quite enough to cover the cost of disposable diapers to keep a child day care. I think that is a case where our state employees deserve a true cost of living raise.
