Deborah “Debbie” Taylor Hammett, 63, of Louisburg, passed away January 21, 2013 at WakeMed Hospital after a sudden infection of her heart.
She was born in Atlanta, Georgia and was an extraordinary and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed and remembered by everyone who knew her. She was a wonderful and caring individual, as famous for her great Southern cooking as she was for ‘mothering’ everyone she came into contact with. She was a lover of all creatures great and small and an advocate for animal rescue.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Samuel Henderson “Sam” Hammett, Jr.; daughters, Dr. Britton Hammett-McCurry and her husband, John of Newnan, Georgia; and Samantha Hammett-Sherman & husband Erik of Louisburg; her father, James C. Taylor of Smyrna, GA; grandchildren, Sierra Sherman, Madison Sherman, and Ridge Sherman all of Louisburg; brothers, Phil Taylor & wife Susan of Newnan, GA and David Taylor & wife Norma of Smyrna, GA, and her dearest friend in the world, GG; nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Wheeler Hammett, brothers-in-law, Donnie and Danny Hammett and her mother, Etta Greer Taylor, and an infant granddaughter, Savannah Bindi Sherman.
