Thomas de Thaey left the N.C. State program in November, but he took one last shot at his former coach on Wednesday morning.
In response to N.C. State's 86-84 loss at Wake Forest on Tuesday night, de Thaey wrote on his Twitter account on Wednesday:
"That's what happens when you're a great recruiter, but terrible coach!"
Causing a further stir, among those who retweeted that comment about N.C. State coach Mark Gottfried was N.C. State freshman forward T.J. Warren.
De Thaey, who still has "GOPACK" in his Twitter handle, wasn't finished. He responded to some N.C. State fans who didn't like his critical tweet.
"Y'all mad at me now because I'm just telling you guys the truth LOL! That's what happens when you're blind to the facts!"
De Thaey, a sophomore, played 27 minutes in three games this season. Unhappy with his playing time, he left the N.C. State program and returned to Belgium to pursue a pro career.
